Choosing materials
Laminate, veneer, lacquer, glass and fabric — where each one works.
Laminate
Durable, easy to clean and available in wood, stone and solid finishes. A good all-rounder for wardrobes, kitchens and offices.
Veneer and lacquer
Veneer gives real wood grain and can be refinished. Lacquer gives a smooth painted finish and suits statement pieces, but shows marks more easily.
Glass, mirror and stone
Tinted glass and mirror add light and depth to wardrobes and dressing units. Quartz and sintered stone tops resist scratches, heat and spills.
Fabric
For curtains, choose fade-resistant fabric and a proper lining. For upholstery, choose a wear-rated fabric or leather that suits how the piece will be used.
