Dressing Units · 5 min read · 7 July 2026
Mirror light, drawer layout and power outlets matter more than the shape of the frame.

A dressing unit is used at the same time every day, so small design details show up quickly. Get the light, the storage and the power right and the rest is style.
Light first. A mirror lit from the front or all around shows your face evenly; a single overhead light casts shadows. Touch-dimming LED mirrors let you adjust between warm and neutral tones, which is useful for judging how make-up will look in daylight and in the evening.
Then the drawers. Shallow, divided drawers suit jewellery, watches and small items; deeper ones suit perfume bottles and brushes. Velvet-lined compartments protect delicate pieces and look the part.
Power outlets are easy to forget. Hidden outlets inside a drawer or under the top let a hair dryer or straightener be used and put away without leaving cables on show.
Sizing should follow the room. A unit built into an alcove or beside a wardrobe can use the whole width, while a floating console suits a smaller bedroom and keeps the floor clear.
Finally, the top surface. Quartz and sintered stone resist scratches, heat and spills better than many laminates, which matters where products and hot tools sit.
